This month’s Best Life Movement workshop looks a little different than normal. Because we value community, friendships, and relationships, we want to take a break from learning together and instead dine together!

Grab some grub and head over to the Frontier to eat lunch with like-minded people who are excited about thriving and living their best lives.

You'll have an opportunity to eat with our peak performance coaches, pick their brains and ask them any questions you may have about thriving in life, in business, or anything else related to living your best life.

Pack your lunch, get a meal from the food truck at the Frontier or snag some food on your way. Enjoy a yummy, health(ier) dessert on us!

With the Best Life Summit (www.thebestlifesummit.com) almost two months away, we thought what better way to hang out as a movement ahead of time than to eat lunch together? We’ll enjoy a joyful hour of getting to know each other, laughing, and conversing.

By the way, if you’ve never heard of the Best Life Movement, we are a group of people who desire to live our best lives and help other to do the same. We get together to learn and encourage each other to pursue what really matters, and achieve balance and continued growth both professionally and personally.

How to achieve balance and growth ... by 2020!

In 18 months, it will be 2020.

A new decade will launch - a new beginning for us all. Will you be ready?

2020 is synonymous with clear vision – do you have a clear vision for what these months will look like before this next milestone in time comes your way?

It has been proven over and over again that when we set big goals (in business and in life) in 18-month-increments, we double our capacity for achieving them!

As great as that is, we have all experienced working towards a goal only to find that it sucks all of our time and energy from other important aspects of our lives. Perhaps our work takes us away from our families, or our families take us away from our work. Or maybe our exercise takes us away from our business endeavors, or our business endeavors take away from our exercise. Or one project at work dominates our week, and there’s no time to focus on serving clients.

Is your life in balance?

Do you even know how to answer that question? Do you work too much? Play too much? Work too little? Play too little? How do we even get in balance? It’s not like we were taught this in school.

We have all suffered from over-commitment to something or under-commitment to something else. We’ve felt stuck or like we are plateauing rather than growing fiercely towards the person we want to be or doing the things we want to do.

At one point or another, we have lacked vision for the important things. And it’s likely we will again. Unless …

Unless we tend to all priority areas of our life and work. This allows us to thrive and reach our goals – when efforts in one area cause complete neglect in another, something’s off. To live our best lives, we need balance and growth in all important aspects of life and work.

The next 18 months is the beginning of working towards lifelong balance and growth.

Brett used to live on autopilot, running each day on a treadmill, going faster and faster, but going nowhere at all. After experiencing a "mid-life blessing," he is now living his best, most purposeful life. He has a passion for helping others live on purpose, both inside and outside of their businesses or work. He is the president of Best Life Global, the peak performance coaching, and training company behind the Best Life Movement workshops. He truly believes the best is yet to come (hello, 2020!).

Productivity Hacks: Stop the busywork + supercharge what matters

Reflect on your day so far – what tasks did you complete?

You likely brushed your teeth, fueled your body with food, checked email and conversed with a loved one. You might have met with a colleague or a potential client, or brainstormed the process for your next project. Maybe you dropped the kids at school and gulped down coffee on the way.

A productive day so far?

Well, it depends. It depends on your definition of productivity. Did you accomplish high-priority, needle-moving tasks, or did you simply check off busywork items?

Productivity is not doing more --  but productivity is doing more of the right things - 

- the things that help lift you to where you want to be. In the context of work, that could be landing the next big account, discovering your true passion, finally launching that long-term project or impacting an individual. On a personal level, it could be serving your significant other, greatly helping a neighbor or becoming the healthiest you can be. 

At the end of the day, checking your email and brushing your teeth are of course important (nobody wants rotted teeth). But, do those things allow you to accomplish what is most important to you, or what is top priority in your life?

Join us for the June Best Life Movement workshop to learn how to structure your day in a way that allows you to accomplish those needle-moving tasks – not just the things you have to do to survive.

Because “how we live our days is how we live our lives” – if we don’t work on our priorities consistently, the busywork will keep us from ever accomplishing them.

How to Cultivate True Happiness

WE ALL KNOW THAT ONE PERSON. 

That one person who walks around seemingly happy all the time - full of energy, enthusiasm and loved by everyone.
It’s not that he or she necessarily has a lot of money, a perfect family, or a great job, but there’s just something about that person you can’t quite put your finger on.

DO YOU EVER WONDER WHAT MAKES THAT PERSON SO HAPPY? 

Do you sometimes wish you could feel that way, too? Most people assume their feelings are based on life circumstances - we catch ourselves thinking “I don’t have enough money," or “my spouse is treating me unfairly," or "my boss is a jerk." These are the things we think make us dissatisfied. 

YOU MAY HAVE TRIED TO IMPROVE YOUR FEELINGS BY CHANGING YOUR LIFE CIRCUMSTANCES.

So, he left his corporate programming job and started his entrepreneurial journey. After some additional soul searching, he realized that his overcommitment to his professional life and lack of awareness in the present moment was robbing him of so much potential joy. After that, he committed himself to balance and living into the person he truly wanted to be, a "world-class" father, a "world-class" husband, and a "world-class" community leader. To stay true to his desire to be a "world-class" community leader, Steve has recently begun his journey into high-performance training. Now, he is committed to helping others feel the joy he's so grateful to experience each and every day.

THIS VALENTINE'S DAY, WE ARE REMINDED THAT THRIVING RELATIONSHIPS, AND NOT ONLY ROMANTIC ONES, BRING JOY TO LIFE. 

We’re family members, co-workers, significant others, parents, friends, roommates, acquaintances, and leaders. But how do we thrive in these relationships?

Life is meant to be lived in community with other people. But how can we be intentional with those we spend our time? How can we love others well, and bring joy to our interactions? 

Let's rock as family members.

Technology makes living in community more difficult. It is our challenge to live relationship-based lives in spite of the distance and separation enhanced by smartphones, social media, texts, emails, etc.

Let's rock as co-workers.

In the workplace, the number one reason that people leave their jobs is because of their boss's behavior. 

Let's rock as significant others 

In a marriage, the best kind of relationship is made up of two independent, emotionally healthy people, who each have their own plans and commitments to personal growth into the future, and where they overlap in the relationship, are crazy in love, supportive and truly enjoy their time and journey together through life.

Let's rock as parents. 

A generous spirit creates emotional well-being. Being concerned with the health and well-being of other people helps us take our minds off of ourselves, and move away from ego-driven thoughts.

Let's rock as friends. 

A survey by the National Bureau of Economic Research of 5,000 people found that doubling your group of friends has the same effect on your wellbeing as a 50% increase in income!

Let's rock as acquaintances.

The late Jim Rohn says we become the average of the five adults we spend the most time with. Successful people like to help other people. Just ask them.

CALLING ALL LIARS.

“I suck. I can’t do it. I’m scared to get started. I know I’m not good enough. People will judge me. I’m not experienced or expert enough to do this. That person is more qualified than me. More likable.” 

Think about a life goal of yours, whether the one you want to accomplish in 2018 or a giant dream you want to live out before your death bed is a reality. One that you have yet to start, but you think about consistently.

Why is it that you haven’t started it?

It could be because you have been fed lies about your abilities, or you’re creating and believing lies about yourself. Lies like the ones in bold above. 

It’s time to stop lying.

You are an amazing person. Someone with the ability to impact others immensely with your life experiences and talents. You are capable of greatness.

It is true that people will judge you for that aspiration, or your experience is not that of the leading expert in the field. Despite this, it’s a lie those are reasons you can’t achieve all you’ve set out to do.

The Best Life Movement is pleased to welcome Kaylee Law, 

high-performance coaching marketer, and people-lover. Kaylee has worn many professional hats in her career, from development writer, reporter, and website creator to wedding coordinator, non-profit manager, volunteer trainer, and community-development specialist. Along the way, Kaylee has found joy in relationships with people and has been blessed by the diversity of life stories she has encountered.

However, Kaylee has fallen victim to the many lies in her head that tell her she is incapable of greatness. Lies like, "who are you to make a difference?" or "that guy's got it all figured out and you're clueless," or "you don't have enough credibility for people to listen" or "you're too young to know what you're talking about." Still learning how to fight off lies daily, Kaylee is excited to share some practical resources for getting rid of the negative thoughts that keep us from changing the world fearlessly. You are a great achiever. You’re beloved by others, and people often ask you how you do it. But inside, you feel like you're not making the difference you had hoped you would, and that life is often too much to handle. Perhaps you're not even sure what you want anymore.

You could be lacking clarity. 

Envision yourself, your life, 10 years from now. 15 years from now. What matters most to you? What brings you meaning? Can you picture yourself living out or into these things?

Our society praises the busy -- it feeds us the idea that the busier we are, the more important we are. It's why we sometimes describe our busyness with pride.
